Who Can Work At Home?

There was a time when the home based business was primarily for those who were otherwise shut out of the job market, for example mother’s who want to stay at home with their children or retirees who weren’t ready to stop just yet. Students, disabled individuals, expatriates who can’t speak the language of their new country, all these people were the big beneficiaries of home business. However, with the dawning of a new century and the rapid development of communications technologies this is changing. The home enterprise is now a valid replacement for a regular job - the power is in the hands of the entrepreneurs. Home business puts earning power back into the hands of the individual; the amount of work you do and the more time you put into building your enterprise the more money it will make.

Working from home is also no longer strictly synonymous with small home business. The options available to the home worker are wider ranging than ever before. These options include more modern high-tech solutions offered by a number of customer service companies. Many individuals are opting to work part time for one of these companies in an effort to support their other ventures (or even just working full time from home in some of the higher paying ones). Furthermore, large online companies such as eBay offer the opportunity to reach thousands of people with products ranging from CDs to mechanical parts, collectible items, even cars. It has become possible to trade eBay items like stocks, making money from the transactions and the use of more effective marketing. Let’s not forget the old fashioned home enterprise, with the power of modern marketing tools it is possible to bypass large companies such as eBay altogether and market your services directly.

In reality, the most successful home based entrepreneurs combine many tactics and focus on their unique skill set to reach the most people. It is not easy, but the opportunity is out there for anyone who is willing to work. With the freedom that comes with running your own business, the options are virtually endless and there truly is opportunity for everyone with a spark of creativity.

With this level of variety and opportunity the only reasonable answer to the question ‘who can work at home?’ is EVERYONE CAN WORK AT HOME!

We spend 60 plus hours a week at the minimum each between accounting, marketing, sales, service calls, development, and blogging (see below). Like any small business, cash flow is an issue at times. With 4 kids, it is wonderful to be able to spend so much time with them by being home for most of the day. On the same hand, it can be a real challenge when we need to focus on our work for more than 20 minutes at a time. Challenges…
